일반항공 [General Aviation] 이라는 것은 군용기 혹은 계획된 일정에 따라 운항하는 여객, 화물 운송기를 제외한 모든 것을 말하여 글라이더와 동력 낙하산부터 대형, 제트 화물기에 이르는 모든 항공기를 포함하고 있다. 결과적으로 세계항공교통의 대부분이 이 범주에 속하며 세계공항의 절대 다수의 일반항공에 종사하고 있다.


The term general aviation describes any flight other than a military or scheduled airline flight, ranging from gliders and powered parachutes to large, non-scheduled cargo jet flights. As a result, the majority of the world's air traffic falls into this category, and the vast majority of the world's airports serve aviation exclusively.
